Our Club

Shapwick Runners is based in Shapwick but has members from across the Poldens, Street and further afield.  We are a small, quiet club, aimed at bringing together local runners. The emphasis of the club is to provide a hub for local runners to contact each other and to run together as and when.  Our members include beginner runners, experienced runners, lapsed runners and those with the intention of running who haven’t yet put it into action!

 

We are affiliated to UK Athletics currently. From April 2023 we have made the exciting decision to partner with Street Striders. This means that Shapwick Runners will no longer be affiliated with UK Athletics, but instead will operate as part of Street Striders, bringing our running communities together.

Our Runs

Our regular club run takes place on Sunday mornings, meeting at 9 a.m. by the cricket pitch in Shapwick.  We usually do a 4.6 mile route round the lanes at a chatty pace, but this varies depending on the preferences of the assembled group. 

 

From time to time we arrange additional group training sessions such as interval training – but due to limited regular take up these sessions tend to happen by personal arrangement amongst members and are therefore sporadic and spontaneous!  We have a WhatsApp group for regular communication.

Membership

Joint annual membership of Shapwick Runners/Street Striders costs £15 and an extra £17 for UKA affiliation (a main benefit of this being reduced entry fees to races). Please see Street Striders' website for more information.
